The flash mob Danser Encore was a spontaneous mobilization of artists and citizens who filled the streets playing music, singing, and dancing together to the song written by Haddour Hadadi. The initiative emerged as a form of satirical protest against the repercussions of anti-Covid restrictions on music, theatre, and the arts in general, to remind everyone that culture is an essential good.
The movement spread across Europe and, in Italy, during the same weekend we managed to coordinate in 28 cities, without using social media or advertising, relying on word of mouth and people’s desire to reclaim the streets.
Together with three other people, in less than two weeks, I coordinated the event in Rome, where 130 people took part, including musicians, dancers, and people from all walks of life, contributing to the collective mobilization to draw attention to the situation of the cultural sector.
